R&D Mechanical Project Manager

We are looking to expand our engineering team dedicated to developing our next generation of products in our Research and Development (R&D) department located in Sibiu.

With our products at the forefront of technological advancement in the rapidly evolving field of electrification this is your chance to take your career to new heights.

This role is ideally suited for someone who has a few years of experience in their career. The successful applicant will be joining a newly created team with plenty of opportunities to learn new things and develop his career.

In Sibiu, the activity will take place at SIMEA, for the Smart Infrastructure, Electrical Products team.

The ideal candidate would be someone who has extensive experience in mechanical design and project management.

New role – challenging and future-oriented

• You will be responsible for the project management of product related topics in the field of switching/protection devices in low voltage distribution area.
• Activities for this role will focus on product design and will have an impact on the way these products are manufactured, requiring very good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Therefore, a deep understanding of the physical phenomenon's that underline both mechanical and electrical functionality of products is needed.
• You will also be responsible for organizing and collaborating in the further development of products in the SENTRON portfolio and in the relevant teams (Production environment, PLM teams, project teams, development teams etc.)
• You will coordinate mechanical design and electrical laboratory activities, so understanding these processes is critical. In addition, a good ability to break down large complex problems/pieces of work into smaller, manageable goals/releases is an absolute must.
• You will also clarify the requirements, define the work packages for development colleagues and coordinate the cooperation with manufacturing and external partners.
• You will take charge of planning and tracking resources, inputs, deadlines and costs, as well as measures to increase productivity.
• There will be plenty of opportunities to engage in international collaboration ensuring strong support for the manufacturing plant.
• You will also ensure compliance with company internal processes and carry out risk management.
• Fostering open communication withing the lifecycle and with customers and stakeholders is the key to success.
• You form the project teams, inspire and support the team to grow.
• The structured processing of topics, the preparation of decision documents and the making of technical and economic decisions within the framework of project.
• You will support the implementation and creation of processes and procedures with active involvement in audits and quality evaluations.

Requirements:

• Excellent planning abilities, advanced consulting techniques, design thinking and facilitation skills
• Being responsible within your product group and ability to work collaboratively
• Self-motivated, easily takes responsibility and manage occasional stressful periods
• Positive mindset, feels happy to jump in and support the team whenever possible
• With your inspiring and open-minded attitude, you will cultivate a working environment that will allow the team to grow
• An ability to think creatively and laterally to design solutions that are viable and feasible
• Knowledge and experience in development projects of electrical devices and systems is necessary
• Several years of practical experience in the development and knowledge of the corresponding electrical development processes
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of Agile development frameworks is a plus
• Effective communicator that can present to both technical and non-technical audiences and can use these skills to influence across all levels of the organization.
• We require the ability to work in a team, creativity, and flexibility to take up new topics
• Cross-cultural experience is required as you will work closely with our international development locations
• Mechanical or electrical engineering university diploma is needed
• Excellent English both spoken and written rounds off your profile. German is a plus
