, a company that is part of our international group, currently expanding its operations in Romania with a focus on the development and construction of renewable energy projects.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced
Senior Accountant
to join the newly established team in Romania. The role offers the opportunity to build the local accounting function from the ground up, guiding financial decisions and contributing directly to the company's growth and success.

General purpose:

The Senior Accountant will manage the full accounting cycle and statutory reporting for several Romanian entities, ensuring full compliance with local accounting, tax, and reporting regulations as well as group requirements. This role is ideal for a hands-on, independent professional who is motivated by a dynamic environment and to play an active role in building a new and growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end accounting process for the Romanian entities, including daily bookkeeping, intercompany reconciliations, trial balance, and monthly closing.
• Ensure full compliance with Romanian accounting, tax, and reporting legislation, and prepare all required statutory reports for submission to authorities.
• Prepare and file monthly VAT, payroll, and other tax returns in accordance with legal requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the Headquarter Finance Team, providing regular reports and supporting consolidation and group reporting processes.
• Oversee cash flow tracking, payments, loans and bank reconciliations, in coordination with local management and group finance.
• Participate in the implementation and configuration of the accounting software best suited to the company's operations in Romania.
• Manage the preparation of audit files, liaising with auditors, tax consultants, and external partners as needed.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and internal control procedures, maintaining transparency and consistency across all accounting activities.
• Provide accounting and tax support during the investment and construction phases of renewable energy projects.
• Contribute to process improvements and the setup of the local finance function, including automation, compliance, and reporting workflows.

Requirements:

As the sole finance professional within the Romanian entity, the Senior Accountant will handle the entire accounting scope – from day-to-day bookkeeping to statutory reporting and financial analysis. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, strong ownership, and the ability to manage all accounting and tax matters locally.

The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Group Financial Controller on all financial topics, proactively communicating issues, proposing solutions, and providing guidance based on Romanian accounting and tax legislation.

This position calls for a hands-on, self-driven, and reliable professional, able to act as a trusted partner for both the local management and the group finance team.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably within companies managing investments and developing new projects, construction, or energy sectors.
• CECCAR certification (or ongoing membership) is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of IFRS is an advantage
• Strong understanding of Romanian accounting, tax, and reporting legislation.
• Proven ability to work independently, organize priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken (intermediate to advanced level).
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with accounting ERP systems; experience in software implementation is a strong plus.
• Analytical, responsible, and detail-oriented, with a solution-driven approach.
