About the role

We are looking for a colleague passionate about Electrical Hardware Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing electronic systems for automotive, micromobility or related fields. You will contribute to the development of the most innovative, safe, fun and easy to ride electric longboard, having as the main activity the design and assembly of electronics and associated electronic systems. You will collaborate with the Senior Hardware Engineer/Team Lead, and with the technical team, to align with the strategic objectives of the project - to develop the future of mobility and offer a FUNtastic commuting experience to people around the world

Required experience

Minimum: 5 years in electronic design, PCB development and embedded systems;

Relevant industries: electric mobility, automotive, robotics, embedded systems, IoT, consumer electronics.

Activities

1. Hardware development and design

• Contribute to defining relevant requirements for the HW discipline;
• Provide support in creating the HW architecture;
• Design and implement electrical schematics for the main modules;
• Develop PCB designs for all proprietary electronic components;
• Create prototypes for electronic circuits and test them;
• Select and evaluate electronic components (connectors, voltage regulators, sensors);
• Implement solutions to reduce electromagnetic interference;
• Complete documentation of electronic design and create BOM (Bill of Materials).

2. Power system & energy management

• Design and test multiple types of battery modules using various battery technologies;
• Design and implement battery protection circuits;
• Configure and test battery management systems (BMS);
• Optimize energy consumption and efficiency of the electronic system;
• Test and validate power system performance and safety

3. Hardware testing and validation

• Develop and execute test plans for all electronic components;
• Using specific tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer) for validation;
• Identifying and solving hardware problems;
• Performing stress and durability tests for electronic components;
• Documenting and reporting test results;

4. Technical and scientific documentation

• Writing technical and scientific reports on research-development-innovation activity;
• Documenting research objectives and hypotheses for each TRL development stage;
• Developing test and validation procedures for increasing the TRL level;
• Preparing documentation for interim and final project evaluations;
• Contributions to technical and scientific publications resulting from research activity;
• Preparing periodic activity reports according to project requirements and European funding.

Essential collaborations

1. Control & automation system (Collaboration with Software/Firmware Engineer)

• Contribution to the development of the smart lighting system with RGB LED and configurable drivers;
• Hardware design for dedicated remote control;
• Assistance in implementing wireless communication systems.

2. Propulsion & motor control system (Collaboration with Mechanical Engineer and System Engineer)

• Contribution to the selection and integration of the BLDC electric motor;
• Support for the configuration and testing of the Electronic Speed ​​Controller (ESC);
• Participation in the analysis of performance and energy efficiency.

3. Product integration and development (Collaboration with Project Manager and Procurement team)

• Support in identifying suppliers for specialized components;
• Contribution to establishing specifications for commercial components;
• Participation in the cost evaluation process and BOM optimization;
• Participation in testing the product as an integrated system in laboratory, controlled environment, real environment.

Requirements

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics / Automation Engineering;
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in electronic circuit design;
• Demonstrable experience with PCB CAD software (Altium, KiCad, Eagle);
• Solid knowledge of power / transformation circuits, different battery technologies and BMS;
• Experience in designing and testing multi-layer PCBs;
• Familiarity with safety standards for consumer electronics products;
• Ability to document technical processes and write scientific reports;
• Ability to work effectively in a technical team and with the guidance of a Team Lead.

Advantages

• Experience in the electric vehicle industry (e-bikes, electric scooters, drones);
• Knowledge of BLDC motor and ESC integration;
• Experience with wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, BLE, RF, others);
• Familiarity with microcontroller programming (STM32, ESP32, Arduino);
• Experience in developing products for mass production;
• Experience in research-development-innovation environments and growing products on the TRL scale;
• Experience in writing technical documentation and scientific reports;
• Previous participation in projects financed by national or European funds.

Software and tools used

In this role, the you will work with the following software and tools:

Main software (daily use)

• KiCad - for designing electronic schematics and PCBs;
• LTspice and/or Qspice - for simulating electronic circuits;
• Mathcad and/or SmathStudio - for documenting design calculations and worst-case analyses;
• Microcontroller software - development environments for STM32, ESP32, etc. (an advantage);
• Test tools - oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter software.

Interdisciplinary collaboration software

• Matlab/Simulink - for modeling and simulating control systems;
• Autodesk Inventor - for collaboration in housing design and component integration;
• Autodesk Nastran - for understanding structural and thermal analyses.

Additional software

• Management tools - Microsoft Office 365 or equivalent, Confluence and Trello or equivalent for planning, reporting and documentation;
• Data analysis software - for processing test results.

Team integration and reporting

• Working closely with the Senior Hardware Engineer/Team Lead;
• Collaborates closely with the engineering team (software, mechanical, system);
• Participates in technical meetings and progress reviews;
• Contributes to the planning of technical activities with the team;
• Implements the team's work standards and methodologies.
