JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to join a project in the energy sector, focused on the modernization of a legacy application into a new, scalable web-based solution built on Microsoft Azure.

This is a hands-on role that combines backend and frontend development, system design, and integration of third-party systems, with a strong focus on security, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a new web application to replace the existing fat-client solution.
  • Conduct requirements analysis in collaboration with the business and development teams.
  • Review and analyze the legacy codebase (VBA, Access, Azure SQL) to understand existing business logic.
  • Define the IT architecture and software design for the new solution.
  • Develop new modules and services to extend and improve system functionality.
  • Implement testing strategies, including automated test routines.
  • Design and develop the UI/UX, ensuring consistency with corporate design guidelines.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Integrate third-party systems and databases via REST APIs and Azure API Management.
  • Design and implement the database architecture in Azure SQL.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security best practices (OWASP, Security by Design).

What Will Drive Your Success

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Python.
  • Proven experience in backend development and API design using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL and strong understanding of database design.
  • Solid frontend development knowledge with (preferred) or Angular.
  • Strong understanding of Git-based workflows and Azure Cloud development environments.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and following best practices for testing, documentation, and delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Fluent communication skills in German and English (both written and spoken).
  • Nice to have: Previous experience in the energy or utilities sector.
