For a tech company operating in the global energy markets, we're looking for THE
Backend Engineering Lead
that will help build and lead the future engineering hub in Romania.

The job involves an
initial onboarding period in Prague (3-6 months)
, flexible working hours and home-office options.

What you'll do:


• Lead a hybrid role: develop code and guide the team.


• Deliver production-ready code quickly with direct feedback from internal stakeholders.


• Design, test, and maintain essential application systems.


• Collaborate with traders, quants, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.


• Optimize code for speed and memory, and tackle performance bottlenecks.


• Integrate seamlessly with external systems via standardized APIs.


• Monitor platform performance and resolve issues swiftly.


• Document design decisions and technical processes for long-term clarity.

What makes you a great fit:


• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.


• Strong proficiency in a C-family language (Kotlin, Java, C/C++ or C#).


• Experience with leading tech teams.


• Experience with enterprise-grade applications (Spring Boot or Micronaut preferred).


• Knowledge of data modeling, relational databases, ORM frameworks, multithreading, and SW optimization is a plus.


• Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design principles.


• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
