ML Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a Software Engineer specializing in Machine Learning Infrastructure to join the team behind our innovative Neural Grader project.

In this role, you will architect and build the "central nervous system" that powers our product's AI. Your primary mission will be to design, create, and scale the data pipelines and training infrastructure for our deep learning models. You will be responsible for the entire ML operational lifecycle (MLOps)—ensuring our models are efficiently trained, validated, deployed, and monitored.

Your main focus will be on building a robust on-premise solution in the short term, with a long-term vision of migrating and scaling to the cloud. You will be working with massive volumes of image data stored on file systems, supplemented by smaller structured databases. 

An important complementary focus of your work will involve productionizing our AI components by optimizing and converting ML models, integrating algorithms, and testing various inference frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implement ML Architecture:

You will design and develop the end-to-end infrastructure for our entire ML model lifecycle.
- Build Data Pipelines:

You will create and automate workflows for collecting, validating, cleaning, and transforming large datasets, primarily consisting of images on a file system.
- Automate Training Processes:

You will implement systems for the efficient and automated re-training of multiple neural network models on client-specific datasets.
- Model Monitoring and Management:

You will develop tools to monitor model performance in production, detect issues like
data drift

or
concept drift

, and automatically trigger corrective actions (e.g., re-training).
- Performance Optimization:

You will work closely with the Computer Vision team to streamline training and inference processes, ensuring optimal use of hardware resources.
- Software Development:

You will use your programming skills to build internal tools and systems to solve our ML engineering and operations challenges.

Essential Requirements:

• Solid Programming Experience:

Advanced knowledge of Java or Python is essential. Experience with other languages for performance critical code, is a plus.
- Architectural Mindset:

The ability to design complex, scalable, and maintainable systems.
- Interest in DevOps/MLOps:

An understanding of automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and orchestration principles (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), applied in an ML context.
- Experience with Large-Scale Data Processing:

Comfortable working with large volumes of data, specifically
image datasets on file systems

, and writing efficient data transformation scripts.
- Self-Driven and Proactive:

The ability to take a task from concept to completion with a high degree of independence.
- Goal-Oriented:

A pragmatic mindset focused on finding effective solutions to complex problems.

Bonus Points:

• Previous experience building data pipelines or ML infrastructure in an industrial setting.
• Hands-on experience with Deep Learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience with on-premise systems and hardware resource management.
• Familiarity with data and model versioning tools (e.g., DVC).
