Junior NOC Technician

The job will consist of monitoring the performance and capacity of our cloud infrastructure, using a variety of in-house or 3rd party tools.

As a NOC Technician, you'll have to look for hardware, software and environmental alerts indicating possible malfunctions. When an issue is spotted or reported, you will work to determine the cause of the problem and attempt to fix or escalate it, depending on its particularities.

Due to the nature of the role,
willingness to work in 24/7 rotations is required
.

Responsibilities and daily tasks will include:

Monitoring:

• Daily system checks (status of services, processes, backups).
• Uptime monitoring (virtual machines, physical servers and network appliances).
• Alert-based monitoring (security posture, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection).

Incident Management:

• Track all relevant issues and ensure ownership, triage, escalation, resolution and communication of outcomes.

Change Management:

• While not a main part of the position, you will be responsible for submitting Change Requests for CAB approval and will be part of the implementation team.
• You will be directly involved with the regular planned maintenance events.

General Support:

• Simplica customers can reach out and request assistance via email, phone or directly through our support portal. Your role is to act as the first point of contact and own the support request to its resolution, while engaging other technical teams and updating the customer or the management team on progress.
• We only offer Tier2 and above support to our customers therefore all interactions will be with customer's technical staff, rather than end users.

Reporting and Documentation:

• The activity will require handover-type reporting at the end of the shift as well as monthly reporting on vulnerabilities lifecycle and planned maintenance outcomes.
• Technical solutions will need to be recorded in the internal knowledge base for future reference.

A good candidate has some IT Service Desk experience, is technically inclined and has a lot of curiosity and willingness to learn. A training plan will be constructed and adjusted to fit business and individual needs.

• Good spoken and written English
• Strong documentation and organizational aptitude
• Good analytical thinker who enjoys solving problems
• Have at least a basic understanding of cloud systems and how services are delivered over the Internet in general.

Technical Competencies and Experience:

• General expertise with operating systems such as Linux and Windows is a must.
• Experience with the Linux shell and Windows PS is a plus
• Experience in troubleshooting networks and/or hardware and software issues is an advantage.

While this position is suitable for beginners, during your tenure you will be exposed to various Cloud technologies and operational methodologies that, given the inclination, will allow you to learn various technical skills or progress your IT career in multiple areas.
