JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Analyst who will be responsible for managing and analyzing indirect tax compliance, with a primary focus on VAT and environmental (green) taxes. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate compliance with tax regulations across multiple European jurisdictions, while supporting efficient data retrieval and reporting processes. The Tax Analyst will work closely with finance and accounting teams, as well as external advisors and tax authorities, to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and deliver accurate tax filings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Collect and analyze data related to VAT and green tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor and resolve issues within the VAT process, maintaining a high-quality issue log and implementing corrective actions across assigned entities.
- Manage VAT return approvals and ensure on-time payments in line with statutory deadlines.
- Prepare clear, detailed reports highlighting trends, risks, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Coordinate with internal finance and business teams to obtain required documentation for VAT calculations.
- Support VAT refund claims and ensure proper recordkeeping for audit readiness.
Green Taxes Management
- Monitor evolving green tax legislation and assess its impact on business operations.
- Partner with sustainability and environmental teams to ensure compliance with green tax requirements.
- Calculate, document, and report green tax liabilities in accordance with local rules.
Risk Management & Governance
- Prepare tax reports and supporting documentation for both internal stakeholders and external authorities.
- Assist with tax audits by providing accurate data, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Maintain structured records of all tax filings and related documentation to support transparency and compliance.
Strategy and Collaboration
- Stay current on changes in VAT and green tax legislation within Europe and share knowledge with the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive efficiencies and standardization in compliance processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax data management and reporting processes.
- Provide ad hoc support and perform additional tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the Tax function.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (Master's, CPA, or JD/LLM a plus).
- 1-3 years of proven experience in VAT compliance and reporting, experience with environmental taxes is a plus.
- Knowledge of indirect tax regimes, especially in EMEA.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsiga, Oracle) is a plus.
- Proficiency with tax software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Fluency in English (German or any other European language is a plus).
