Your new role
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to contribute to our Dimensions platform.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will manage the cloud infrastructure hosting our production applications, will be in charge of deploying new releases to production and will ensure availability of all critical systems. You will also keep a close contact with the development teams in regard to tools access and usage, infrastructure requirements and other automations or improvements as needed.

You will be part of an experienced and well skilled technical team, with a clear vision of the technological and engineering goal within the exciting setting of an international and agile company.

About Dimensions
With Dimensions, Digital Science launched an innovative research data and tool infrastructure, broadening the view of the research landscape after decades of focus on the publication/citation complex.

Dimensions is a research tool that interlinks multiple data sets (grant applications, publications, clinical trials, patents applications, policy documents). Based on these data sets and by using external services it provides metrics like attention and citation score and makes it possible to perform complex analysis on the data.

In total, Dimensions contains today more than 400 million documents with more than 4 billion connections between these records.

This role is mainly remote, however, we would also need somebody willing to go to our Iași office from time to time.*
What you'll be doing

• Write and debug Terraform configurations to deploy necessary system resources.
• Administer Digital Science product instances running on Kubernetes (AWS EKS) clusters.
• Architect and administer cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Plan, design and enhance automation processes, utilities and tools.
• Put into place release processes, infrastructure and tools. Help the development team to bring their software from testing to production.
• Help improve the reliability, scalability and performance of our systems.

What you'll bring to the role

• Strong hands-on experience using Terraform in a production environment including experience with module development and state management.
• Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, VPC, Route53, RDS,...).
• Experience provisioning and maintaining AWS EKS clusters, including VPCs, subnets, and employing EKS add-ons that allow the cluster to interact with AWS services.
• Understanding of how to customize Helm Charts, chart dependencies, and best practices.
• Experience with or willingness to learn a GitOps tool, e.g., Flux or ArgoCD.
• Some knowledge of the Grafana monitoring ecosystem.
• Experience using the Python programming language.
• Database knowledge (e.g. PostgreSQL, Apache Solr, MongoDB, etc.).
• Strong experience with Linux administration and shell scripting.
