Job Title: Data Engineer

About the Role

EDEKA IT Romania is part of the EDEKA Group – one of the largest retail companies in Germany. As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a remote-first team that works in close collaboration with our colleagues in Germany. Your focus will be on building, optimizing, and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines using Azure, Databricks, and real-time streaming technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Databricks & Azure Integration
  • Design and optimize Spark jobs using PySpark and SQL for data processing with Delta Lake
  • Administer and monitor Databricks environments and integrate them with Azure services (e.g., Data Lake, Azure SQL)
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Build and manage Azure Data Factory pipelines for data orchestration
  • Implement dynamic triggers and parameterization
  • Connect various cloud and on-premises data sources
  • Event Hub & Real-Time Streaming
  • Set up and operate Azure Event Hubs to enable real-time data streaming into Databricks
  • Ensure proper monitoring, scaling, and data integrity throughout the streaming infrastructure

Your Profile

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • Strong hands-on skills with PySpark, SQL, Databricks, and Azure
  • Experience with building and managing ADF pipelines
  • Knowledge of streaming architectures (especially Azure Event Hub)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a distributed team
  • Strong communication skills in English;
    German language skills are a plus
