Software Safety Engineer

Job Summary:

The Software Safety Engineer will design and develop the Software Integrity Manager (SWIM), a web-based application for capturing and managing compliance data against software safety standards such as DO-178C and IEC This role requires strong software development skills (preferably Java) and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver a reliable, user-friendly, and standards-compliant solution.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop the SWIM web application (backend and frontend).

• Collaborate with UK SMEs to define architecture and requirements.

• Implement phased workflows aligned with safety lifecycle stages.

• Ensure compliance with safety-critical standards (DO-178C, IEC

• Develop database integration, reporting, and export functionality.

• Host and maintain the application in secure environments.

• Provide documentation, compliance evidence, and user support.

Must-have Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in software development.

• Proficiency in at least one of: C, C++, Java (preferred), Python, Rust.

• Experience with web application development (server-side and client-side).

• Knowledge of databases and data integration.

• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Familiarity with safety standards (DO-178C, IEC

• Experience with requirements management tools (Polarion, DOORS).

• Knowledge of secure hosting environments.

• Experience with scripting (Python, Bash).

Languages & Mobility:

• English – mandatory;

• French – nice to have

• Mobility: Occasional travel to the UK for workshops and reviews.
