Job Title: Mid–Senior Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: On-site, Bucharest (5 days/week)
Engagement Type: Freelance / B2B Contract
Experience Level: Mid–Senior (3+ years)

Role Overview

Responsible for the administration, stability, performance, and security of enterprise-grade database environments. The role requires hands-on ownership of production systems, close collaboration with development and infrastructure teams, and on-site availability five days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database platforms in production and non-production environments
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of databases through proactive monitoring and tuning
  • Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Diagnose and resolve complex database incidents, performance bottlenecks, and data integrity issues
  • Collaborate with application teams on schema design, query optimization, and release support
  • Implement and enforce database security, access control, and compliance best practices
  • Automate routine DBA tasks and contribute to operational efficiency
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks
  • Participate in on-call rotation and critical incident response when required
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in production environments
  • Strong experience with Oracle Database (11g / 12c / 19c); multi-version environments preferred
  • Solid understanding of database architecture, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization
  • Proven experience with backup and recovery (RMAN), performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Strong knowledge of PL/SQL and database-level scripting
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of database operations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Professional working proficiency in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-availability setups (RAC, Data Guard)
  • Exposure to other database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible)
  • Prior experience working in B2B or consultancy-based engagements

  • Freelance / B2B contractual collaboration

  • Mandatory on-site presence in Bucharest, 5 days per week
