Position SummaryThe Psychologist will provide professional mental health support to staff, children, and community members across Word Made Flesh Communities. This role emphasizes trauma-informed care, counseling, and capacity-building to promote emotional wellbeing and resilience in contexts of vulnerability.
Psychologists fully participate in the life of the WMF Community, engaging in shared rhythms of prayer, service, and reflection while offering guidance, therapy, and education to strengthen individual and community health.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Support & Counseling
- Provide individual and group counseling for children, youth, women, and staff
- Assess psychological and emotional needs and develop appropriate care plans
- Apply trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches in all interactions
- Support staff in managing secondary trauma and stress-related challenges
- Maintain confidential records and adhere to ethical standards in all clinical work
Training & Capacity-Building
- Provide workshops and training for staff on mental health, emotional wellbeing, and trauma care
- Advise community teams on best practices for supporting vulnerable populations
- Contribute to the development of community care policies and wellness protocols
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Collaborate with local staff, families, and community partners to ensure holistic care
- Support community storytelling and advocacy by highlighting resilience and wellbeing
- Offer guidance in creating safe, supportive environments for vulnerable populations
Personal Formation & Community Life
- Participate in community prayer, formation reading, and discussion
- Engage in cultural immersion and language learning where relevant
- Serve and build authentic relationships among vulnerable populations
- Contribute to the shared life, mission, and health of the WMF Community
- Licensed psychologist or equivalent professional certification in psychology
- Experience in trauma-informed care, counseling, or clinical psychology
- Knowledge of mental health issues in contexts of poverty and vulnerability
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Motivated, responsible, and able to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to living in, serving, and investing in WMF Communities
- English proficiency required; local language learning expected
Worksite Location: Opportunities available in Word Made Flesh Communities in Moldova and Romania
Commitment: 3-year term of service (full-time, 40 hours per week)
Compensation: Support-based position; staff raise support for salary and living expenses
Language Learning: Regular tutoring in local language expected to fulfill responsibilities
