By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. The role of an IT Business Thread Leader involves managing and coordinating various aspects of technology projects and initiatives linked to a specific Business Thread

What you'll be doing 

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive project plans aligning with the contracting authority goals and objectives 
• Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams through the entire project lifecycle, fostering collaboration, and ensuring each team member's strengths are maximised
• Resource Management: Ensure resources are allocated efficiently and cost overruns are minimised  
• Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies, ensuring projects stay on track and meet deadlines
• Stakeholder Collaboration: ensure excellent collaboration with the required the contracting authority's and its partners stakeholders to explain the contracting authority's service offering and take onboard stakeholders' feedback
• Stakeholder Communication: Establish clear lines of communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns to maintain project transparency
• Compliance and Security: Ensure that technology solutions comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies related to data privacy, security, and compliance
• Lesson learned Review: Conduct thorough reviews to analyse project success, identify areas for improvement, and incorporate lessons learned into future projects

What you'll bring along  

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of Project Management Expertise: Proven track record in successfully managing and delivering complex IT projects, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
• Leadership and Team Management: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams towards common goals
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, enabling effective decision-making in dynamic environments
• Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of IT concepts and technologies, allowing for informed decision-making and effective communication with technical teams
• Risk Management: Proficient in identifying and managing risks, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation 
• Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines 
• Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as ITIL, PM2, PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2  
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
