David Kennedy Recruitment is working with a leading B2B solution provider who are looking to recruit a Studio Animations Programmer – Dynamic Lighting Specialist for their offices in Bucharest, Romania.

Position:  Studio Animations Programmer – Dynamic Lighting Specialist

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Employment type: Full-time

Remuneration: Base salary 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program and operate professional lighting control systems for live events, broadcasts, and virtual productions.
  • Create and implement dynamic lighting sequences responsive to real-time data, scripted cues, or interactive content.
  • Collaborate with creative, technical, and production teams to integrate lighting into overall show or media design.
  • Translate creative lighting concepts into executable cue stacks, timelines, and pixel mapping configurations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize lighting systems and related equipment to ensure consistent performance.
  • Ensure lighting setups meet standards for visual quality, real-time rendering, and broadcast compatibility.
  • Participate in planning sessions, technical rehearsals, and post-production evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including patch sheets, cue lists, and system configurations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluent in English, with strong proficiency in both written and spoken communication
  • Proven experience in lighting programming and operation for live, virtual, or broadcast environments.
  • Strong understanding of lighting control protocols such as DMX, Art-Net, and sACN.
  • Hands-on experience with intelligent lighting fixtures, LED systems, and pixel-based lighting.
  • Familiarity with show control and synchronization of lighting with video, audio, or automation systems.
  • Solid organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under tight deadlines in fast-paced, technology-driven environments.
  • Background in lighting design for entertainment, esports, or digital media production.
  • Experience with real-time engines or virtual production tools (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
  • Scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, Lua, or similar).
  • Understanding of color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
