What you'll do

• Collaborate with software engineers to design and optimize database schemas.
• Ensure data models align with application requirements and performance goals.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
• Analyse query performance and recommend improvements.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks including indexing, and updates.
• Set up and manage monitoring tools to ensure database health and uptime in collaboration with the Infrastructure Team
• Implement and maintain database security policies.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Work with DevOps to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate routine tasks using scripts and tools.
• espond to database-related incidents and outages.
• Provide root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems and procedures.
• Share knowledge and best practices with engineering teams;

What you need to be successful

• Proven experience as a DBA in a software engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
• Knowledge of database versioning and migration tools (e.g., Flyway, Liquibase).
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
