International Justice Mission (IJM) is the global leader in protecting vulnerable people from violence around the world.

International Justice Mission (IJM) has implemented a collaborative approach to combating violence against those vulnerable for the last 23 years in 20 field offices around the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, by collecting international best practices in tackling human trafficking. The capacity building model of criminal justice system transformation implemented by IJM includes individual support for survivors, support for government initiatives and jointly proposing policy changes to strengthen criminal justice systems (CJS) to respond effectively to human trafficking.

The Need
For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking a Grant Accountant.

The Grant Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the Child Protection Compact project by ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and compliance with financial regulations. This position involves managing day-to-day financial activities, assisting in budgeting processes, and collaborating with teams to maintain efficient financial systems.

Key Result Areas

• Financial Record-Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Process invoices, receipts, and payments promptly.
• Budgeting and Reporting:
• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts in collaboration with program and management teams.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
• Compliance and Auditing:
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, organizational policies, and donor requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Grant Management:
• Track and report on the financial performance of grants, ensuring proper allocation of funds.
• Assist in preparing financial reports for donors and funding agencies.
• Review the quarterly financial reports prepared by partners, communicate and assist them in the reporting process (budget spending, variances explanations, regular costed work plan review, budget revisions).
• Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:
• Financial Data Management by ensuring accurate and organized recording of all financial transactions, maintaining up-to-date records in line with IJM financial standards and procedures.
• Reporting System Maintenance by managing financial reporting system, ensuring in detail accessible, secure and aligned with internal procedures and procedures and external audit standards.

Supervisory

• The Grant Accountant reports to the Project Manager EATP.
• The Grant Accountant is an individual contributor with no direct reports.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
• Experienced computer-user proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Preferred experience includes working internationally in developing countries and on multi-disciplinary teams.
• Fluency in oral and written communication of English required.

Technical Competencies

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of donor-funded project management is a plus.

Requirements
This position is based in Bucharest, Romania and is available to be hybrid (onsite Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) and remote Monday and Wednesday.
This position requires the right to work in Romania.
