Forwarding Specialist – Ocean Freight | Bucharest

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Type: Full-time | On-site (Hybrid flexibility)

Ahlers is an international logistics company with nearly 700 employees across Europe, CIS, and Asia. We specialize in international forwarding, secure transport, warehousing, supply chain management, project cargo, and trade facilitation.

We're expanding our team in Bucharest and looking for a Forwarding Specialist with solid Ocean Freight experience. If you're organized, customer-oriented, and passionate about logistics, this is your chance to grow in a global company with a collaborative spirit.

What you'll do

  • Manage and coordinate ocean freight shipments (FCL/LCL) from booking to delivery.
  • Liaise with shipping lines, carriers, and agents to ensure smooth transport operations.
  • Handle documentation such as Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and customs papers.
  • Monitor shipments proactively and keep customers informed on status and exceptions.
  • Ensure compliance with customs, export, and import regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (sales, operations, finance) to maintain high service quality.
  • Use digital tools and transport management systems (TMS, carrier portals, etc.) for accurate and timely data handling.

What you bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding (import/export).
  • Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, international shipping processes, and documentation.
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • High attention to detail, strong planning skills, and a proactive attitude.
  • Comfortable working with digital tools and logistics systems.
  • Team player with a customer-first mindset and problem-solving approach.
