Bucharest, Bucureşti, Romania Stripe Full time €80,000 - €120,000 per year

Who we are

About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About The Organization
We provide leveraged and usable infrastructure for Stripes to explore innovative, new products while concurrently extending secure, reliable and cost-effective mature business lines.

Our Mission Is To

  • Enable Stripe product teams to rapidly build new products, and quickly iterate on existing products, to drive value for our users and Stripe.
  • Provide Stripe's product teams a secure, performant, and efficient platform for creating and maintaining their products and services
  • Enable Stripe's engineers to build scalable applications with high speed, quality and performance
  • Enable Stripe's largest users to scale their businesses on Stripe.

You may work on a wide variety of critical business areas including:

  • Developer Infrastructure - We are responsible for making Stripe's developers happy and productive. We work on tools, processes, and code refactoring to accelerate Stripe engineering as Stripe scales. You'll collaborate closely with partner teams in Europe, such as CI Infra and CI Services, Test Environments and Frameworks, as well as partner teams based in the US who provide language specific tooling for Engineers who develop in any of Stripe's supported languages (Ruby, Java, Golang, Python and more).
  • Operator tooling - At Operator Tooling, we're on a mission to eliminate the burdensome manual processes that weigh down our operators, freeing them to focus on the impactful, meaningful work they were hired to do. We're building a platform to tackle the daily frustrations head-on, from those endless Excel files, unstructured email chains, and repetitive, time-draining tasks.
  • Compliance Foundations - Internal Controls Engineering owns systems and tools to measure and increase operational efficiency of all internal controls throughout Stripe. We build tools for owners of financial, business, and technology controls. We are part of a larger Compliance Foundations engineering organization, and work closely with our partner engineering teams to increase efficiency and predictability of compliance.
  • Internal Developer Toolings - The team is responsible for accelerating Stripe's developers and providing a positive experience. We work on tools, processes, and code refactoring to enhance Stripe's engineering as it scales. The team has three main areas of responsibility. Our mission encompasses optimizing day-to-day engineering work in regards to our QA infrastructure, advancing the capabilities of the Synthetics tool, and facilitating effective service-to-service testing. Through these efforts, we aim to improve the reliability of Stripe's systems and platforms, enhance the quality of deliverables, and ultimately foster a more efficient and innovative development process.
  • Privileged Access Tooling - This team improves security by providing secure alternatives to unrestricted access, safeguarding sensitive systems and data. We develop robust tools and interfaces to minimize risks associated with privileged access, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Teams use our tools as they provide safe, intuitive and simple interfaces for their operational workflows minimizing the need for default, extreme privileged access.

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

Stripe does not yet include pay ranges in job postings in every country. Stripe strongly values pay transparency and is working toward pay transparency globally.
