We are seeking a professional to join our team in the role of Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer. Reporting to the Design Authority, this position will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring project activities for large refurbishment projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Engineering Expert - Mechanical- reports directly to the Design Authority and has as main accountabilities:
  • Support heads of services within the Engineering Department in the evaluation for acceptance of detailed solutions, technical specifications, implementation, and testing plans with respect to design engineering
  • Provide oversight and verification of the complex implementation and testing plans for critical activities in the refurbishment project
  • Monitor and ensure that design and refurbishment activities are performed in accordance approved project schedule, budget, and relevant QA processes
  • Define and manage interfaces and scope between discipline-specific design areas to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to each stage of project
  • Provide design expertise and verify system-level design documentation
  • Adhere to on-time/on-budget criteria associated with refurbishment commitments and success

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering is required. The successful candidate will have direct involvement in a CANDU Refurbishment Project/Organization, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, and at least 5 years working with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of site outage/installation/maintenance of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants, comprehensive understanding of CANDU technology and operations, and expertise in design engineering. Strong problem-solving skills and experience leading technical projects to successful completion are essential.
